Thursday 3rd May 2012
£295.00 per person plus VAT
This day-long course has been designed to help you understand how podcasting can help your organisation, and to give you key tips for writing and recording scripts or handling interviews. We’ll also teach you about the software you need for recording and uploading your podcasts, including the important aspect of subscribing to podcasts.
The course will take place in our training suite at our offices in Colchester, Essex.
The Course
1. Introduction
- What is podcasting
- History of podcasting
- The future of podcasting
2. Podcast demonstration
3. The Five P’s to a Perfect Podcast
i) Preparation, including equipment, audience needs, gathering material and writing scripts
ii) Performance, recording your material, including sound effects, using audio software
iii) Post production, editing and mixing tracks
iv) Posting, using FTP web software and RSS syndication software
v) Promotion, using PR and podcast sites
Practical exercises
The main focus of the day will be on developing your radio techniques and you will gain experience both as an interviewer and an interviewee. We’ll look at the different styles of interviews that can be used, and plan a podcast with various radio-style elements, across the day. These will include a ‘head-to-head’ style interview, a ‘package’ and a ‘voxpop’. After gathering material, you will learn how to edit it, using audio software, ending up with your very own podshow, complete with music stings and trailers! We will then talk through how it is syndicated to the world at large and promoted.
Costs
Places on the course cost £295.00 per person plus VAT. The course runs from 9.30am-4.30pm. Course materials and equipment will be provided and you will be given access to a password protected reference guide about podcasting written by Mosaic Publicity along with your podshow. Courses are limited to six people. Refreshments, including lunch, will be provided.
